WRHC 2025 Bochum
We invite you to join us for the 15th Water Research Horizon Conference in Bochum hosted in collaboration with the Ruhr University Bochum on September 29 & 30, 2025.
Urban water systems are at the frontline of multiple environmental, social, and infrastructural challenges—ranging from pollution and habitat degradation to increasing climate-induced stressors like droughts and floods. As cities grow and climate change accelerates, innovative and interdisciplinary approaches are needed to safeguard water quality, ensure public health, and foster resilience and sustainability.
Building on these pressing challenges, the WRHC 2025 features the keynote “Managing urban flood risk and building resilience in a changing climate” by Qiuhong Tang (Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Beijing) and four thematic sessions that explore key dimensions of urban water transformation: Targets for a Neglected Water Body Type - Urban Water Bodies, Coupling Water and Energy for a Circular Economy, Climate-Resilient, Sustainable, and Health-Promoting Urban Transformation - Sponge City Aspects, and Communicating Water Science - Opportunities and Challenges. Together, they provide a framework for interdisciplinary discussion and forward-thinking strategies to create water futures that are resilient and inclusive.
